Youth Employment Program

Tracking Code813-141Job Description

Students who participate in this program will be placed in a variety of positions across campus, such as clerical, technical, service, and labor. Applications will be accepted online only until March 16th at 5:00p.m.

Since the number of positions funded through this program is limited, no student is guaranteed placement in this program. Previous participation does not guarantee placement. Student job preferences will be considered but are not assured. Students may not be supervised by their parents, guardians, or any other relatives. Employment decisions will be made first on a lottery and then based on departmental requests.

In order for a student to be eligible to participate in this program, he/she must:

Be a dependent of a full-time faculty or staff member at Wake Forest University.
Be at least 16 years of age by March 1st, 2012. (Appropriate work documents will be required if under 18.)
Must not be older than age 22 by March 1st, 2012.
Submit an application online by March 16th, 2012.
Submit all required paperwork by April 30th, 2012.
Show eligibility to work in the United States.
Must attend one of four scheduled orientation sessions prior to starting work (Thursday, 5/17 9a.m.-10a.m.; Wednesday, 5/23 3p.m.-4p.m.; Wednesday 5/30 10a.m.-11a.m.; Monday 6/11 1p.m.-2p.m. Dates are subject to change.)
Start work no later than June 22nd, 2012.

Please be aware of a wonderful training opportunity for both clergy and laity being held at Bunker Hill United Methodist Church, Kernersville, N.C., on Saturday, March 24. On that day, Michael Euliss with The American Institute For Servant Leadership with be presenting a wonderful seminar, “On Eagles Wings: Developing the Leader in You!”

The goal of this event is to help you as a leader to develop better relationships with those you serve. You will be provided state-of-the-art tools that you can use the moment you leave the training.

Stephen Ministry provides training to laity to help them care for other laity. Stephen Ministry leaders from St. Louis are offering a half-day workshop to introduce Stephen Ministry to pastors and interested laypersons on Saturday, Feb. 25 from 9:00 am – 1:00 pm at Main Street UMC, Kernersville. Check-in and on-site registration begins at 8:00 am. The cost is $15 per person or $50 per congregation (four or more). Topics covered are Ministering to Those Experiencing Grief, an Introduction to Stephen Ministry, and How to Care in a Distinctively Christian Way.
